Kristin – Bridal, Fort Worth Stock Yards

Posted by:admin on Feb - 18 - 2012 - Filed under: Blog -

I’ve been super excited to post these, but haven’t been able to because of the nature of weddings.  We met the Friday after Thanksgiving to head out to the ForthWorth’s Stock Yard District to take some bridal pictures.  It was just slightly overcast.  We met early in the afternoon.  It got dark quickly and people began to flood the area as we took these, but they turned out GREAT!

Kristin and Devin Engagements

Posted by:admin on Feb - 14 - 2012 - Filed under: Blog,Weddings -

I was very excited when I was asked to do this shoot. Why do you ask? Well, Kristin is my cousin. I’ve known her her whole life. I’ve known Devin since he was probably 12 or 13. They are great people, and they are getting married! Our day started off with crazyness. About 30 minutes before the shoot, it began to downpour in the tiny town of Marshall. Most of our photos were planned to be outside. After some frantic searching and calling, I found out that we had a small 45 minute window to use the upstairs of historic Weisman Center in Downtown Marshall. They drove 3 hours to take these pictures. Hopped out of the car at my home, changed, then sped over to the Weisman Center. We used all the time we could. When our time was up, we went outside. It was overcast and humid. Luckily, Kristin only really sweats on one place…her upper lip?! Random, I know. But the heat and humidity did not do as much damage as it could. I brought my trusty brother-in-law sidekick, Tim Darst to assist with the shoot. He was a great flash stand holder :) .

Taylor and Alyssa Weaver Wedding

You may or may not remember these two awesome people from an earlier shoot…

Taylor is a great friend. I went to school with him for my undergraduate degree, and we are about to start our Masters program in Religion together at ETBU. He and his new bride Alyssa have played a great role in our youth ministry as well.

Taylor and Alyssa were married at Enoch’s Stop and Winery in Harleton, TX. It was a beautifully HOT June evening. The ceremony was at 7:00pm. There was an interesting thing that happened. A grass fire was blazing somewhere nearby filling the beautiful scenery full of a smoky haze (a different haze than the humidity of East Texas). The haze, however, kept the temperature down a few degrees.

The ceremony was awesome, officiated by the Dean of ETBU’s Religion Department, Dr. John Harris. For me, it was a great time of catching up with friends and spending time with some of my favorite people. We lost light fast, so I had to bust out my dual flash setup for the pictures after the ceremony. We did the best with the conditions we had. My lovely wife, Sarah, held one stand steady in the wind, while my brother in law, Tim, held the other.

The reception happened inside the lodge at Enoch’s Stomp. Taylor and Alyssa…ok, probably just Alyssa and her crew…did a GREAT job of decorating the place. I brought the flashes in to the lodge, and they provided some AMAZING light. All in all, it was an awesome ceremony with an awesome family.

Family

Posted by:admin on Jul - 22 - 2011 - Filed under: Blog -

One of the joys of being a photographer is being able to take pictures of my own kiddos. I love them so much! Colin just turned 4 and Carley just turned 1. They are some beautiful kids. Being a Dad is awesome!

Childress Family

I had the opportunity to meet up with a really fun family.  I’ve shot this family a couple of times before, and we always get GREAT pictures.  Mom and Dad were there with their children.  It was a blast.  The youngest girl was having her big “2″ birthday party the next day.

With the time change, I didn’t want to lose sunlight, so we started at 3:00PM.  We took pictures in my FAVORITE location in Marshall, the alley way in the down town area beside “Under the Tuscan Sun.”  The lighting is really pretty good no matter what time of the day I go there.

They wanted LOTS of pictures.  Some of the little kids, some of the siblings, some of the whole family, some Mom and Dad, and some individuals.

Marshall T-Ball T&I 2011

Posted by:admin on May - 8 - 2011 - Filed under: Blog,Sports -

I had a really great time out at Marshall’s Airport Park taking some T-Ball Team and Individual pictures yesterday.  I love the art of picture taking, and I really love it when I get good results in tough conditions.  Mid day sun is the absolute WORST lighting for picture taking, but with 2 flash setups and a reflector, I got some great tones.  You can mostly see the eyes of the kiddos.  I thought it was great!
